Sheldon Whitehouse Raises More than $1 Million in First Quarter of 2011
RI Senator in Strong position with more than $1.6M COH and Broad Grassroots Support

Washington, DC — With the 2012 campaign season approaching, Whitehouse for Senate today announced that Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse raised over $1 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2011. A diverse coalition of Rhode Islanders — seniors, small business owners, nurses, and more — pledged their support to keep Whitehouse in the Senate so he can continue fighting to help the people of Rhode Island to improve their lives.

"I'm humbled by the support I've received from every corner of our Ocean State," said Whitehouse. "It is an incredible honor to represent Rhode Islanders in the U.S. Senate and I will continue fighting to boost our economy, stop jobs from being shipped overseas, and put people back to work."

Whitehouse's first quarter total brought him to over $1.6 million cash on hand. The period represented one of the strongest single fundraising quarters by a political candidate in Rhode Island history, and featured a well-attended event at the Providence Biltmore hosted by Senator Jack Reed which showcased widespread support for Whitehouse's re-election.
