In the Senate, we’ve been hard at work on legislation that will help Rhode Islanders who are hurting in this tough economy: passing jobs legislation; cracking down on abusive credit card practices; and planning responsibly for the fiscal challenges that await us.
 
I’ve also been focusing on several issues I’m particularly passionate about. We have an important opportunity to reform our dysfunctional health care system. I’m working with my colleagues on the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee to take on the growing threat of climate change, and pass tough, common-sense legislation to create a green energy economy. And in both the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, I’m part of efforts to get to the bottom of what happened in the Bush Administration’s detention and interrogation program.
